SUMMARY :

We are seeking a skilled Supervisor for our Night Shift to oversee our metal fabrication operations. The Fabrication Supervisor will be responsible for leading a team to ensure production schedules are met, maintaining quality standards, and fostering a safe and efficient work environment.

Manage day-to-day operations, assign tasks, and provide guidance to fabricators, optimize fabrication processes for efficiency, enforce safety protocols, conduct training, manage inventory, coordinate equipment maintenance, and maintain accurate production records.

Additionally, they actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and product quality.

The Fabrication Supervisor reports to the Director of Operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Directly manage a team of fabricators, including assigning tasks, providing guidance, and conducting performance evaluations.
• Collaborate with production managers to develop production schedules and ensure timely completion of fabrication projects.
• Implement and enforce quality control procedures to maintain high-quality standards in fabricated metal products.
• Identify opportunities to optimize fabrication processes, improve workflow, and minimize waste to enhance operational efficiency.
• Promote and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and address any hazards or concerns promptly.
• Support the professional development of team members.
• Oversee inventory levels of raw materials and finished products.
• Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure adequate supply availability.
• Collaborate with maintenance staff to schedule and perform routine maintenance on fabrication equipment to prevent breakdowns and minimize downtime.
• Maintain accurate production records, including daily activity logs, inventory counts, and quality control reports.
• Generate regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) for management review.
• Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives to drive cost savings, enhance product quality, and streamline processes.

QUALIFICATIONS :

• College Degree or equivalent; or four to ten years’ related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Previous experience in manufacturing, or other related fields
• Must have good decision-making ability and leadership skills. Ability to apply common sense and to carry out instructions furnished in written or verbal form.
• Knowledge of production tools and equipment
• Strong leadership qualities
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
• Ability to present information effectively to top management and customers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to : Stand and walk, use hands and arms to handle, feel and reach.

The employee is frequently required to bend over, lean in, stoop or crouch. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance.

The employee must occasionally lift up to 35lbs. Specific vision abilities to do this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
