ABOUT THE ROLE
The Field Technology Services team is seeking someone with strong technical skills to manage, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and update software, hardware, and networking as necessary to support the client’s education, programs, & operations efforts for client sites and facilities.
Field Technology Specialist provides technical advice, guidance, and implementation of complex work items involving educational and client’s Operations software products such as AZTEC, Lexis Nexis, GED Academy, Auto CAD, Teknimedia, Alexandria, Elevate and similar software packages.
- Provides technical support of complex work problems involving computer technology to include workstation and server hardware, software and operating systems, networking hardware, software and infrastructure, and various operating systems software.
- Responsibilities include independently installing, updating and management of applications and hardware at the assigned facilities.
- All candidates must be comfortable going onsite to client’s facilities. This person will be working within the Field Technology team, so they will be required to travel to different sites.
Will do our best to allow remote work, when possible, but the nature of the work requires an onsite resource.
- Work experience in the computer support field. A combination of desktop, server & network support is required within a fast-paced, delivery-oriented agile environment.
- This position must be able to perform with minimal direct supervision and may be required to use their home as a base of operation.
Significant travel (usually day trips) may be required.
- This candidate must be local to Eastern VA within a 60-mile radius of Suffolk, VA.
- Candidates will be required to drive a state vehicle. Therefore, they MUST have and maintain a clean driving record
- State Vehicle provided to travel to client’s facilities, once the candidate is fully onboarded and starts delivering consistently, we can be flexible to have their home office be updated to the Vehicle location / vehicle base point where the state vehicle can be parked when not in use.
- At least 3 days at facilities could be more depending on items going on during the week. Normally its 3 days at facilities but sometimes during roll outs or critical priorities could be more than 3 days
- No overnights normally except in case of a critical emergency.
Required skills (5 Years’s experience) :
- Windows operating systems such as Win10, Server 2016 / 2019 / 2022.
- Independently installing, updating, and managing networks
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues in various operating systems and application software in a LAN / standalone environment.
