SCOPE OF POSITION
The Phlebotomist shall perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques from patients of all age groups following Ballad Health standard operating procedures.
The Phlebotomist may be assigned to provide phlebotomy with patient care areas outside of the hospital such as regional cancer centers, nursing homes, physician offices, and Community Health Fairs, and to perform related clerical duties as needed.
The Phlebotomist shall maintain a comprehensive understanding of Ballad Health Patient Safety and Patient Information Security.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE
Completion of a Phlebotomy Certification Program with eligibility for the National Phlebotomy Certification exam. One year of phlebotomy experience in a hospital or healthcare setting is considered equivalent to completion of a Phlebotomy Certification Program.
Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, to interact effectively with all patients and their families.
An Emergency Medical Services accreditation is considered comparable to a National Phlebotomy Program's certification. BLS required.
Minors of 16 and 17 years of age who have not yet graduated from high school may be employed in this role as long as they remain actively enrolled in their secondary school program.
Minors of 16 and 17 years of age would be eligible to be hired as a non-certified Phlebotomist.
