This position is required to work on-site 5 days a week.

What we do :

The Sr. EMC Engineer, Powertrain Systems is responsible for the design, testing, and evaluation of electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) for the Supernal EVTOL program within the Powertrain department.

This role serves as the subject matter expert within the department.

What you can do :

  • Perform EMI / EMC design, evaluation, and testing of all electrical and electronic equipment from the module level to the complete aircraft.
  • Collaborate with other engineering departments to implement testing and develop test plans.
  • Perform bench testing in-house or at external testing facilities.
  • Generate documents to support test qualification to EMI / EMC standards, such as MIL-STD-461 and RTCA DO-160.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and support the design teams of ESS and EPU with EMC / EMI failures and standard processes.
  • Assist in the resolution of electromagnetic-related issues to ensure EMC certification and support sustaining activities, including production support.
  • Define the scope of work for EMC efforts in major or complex technical / engineering projects, estimate the level of effort, plan activities and achievements, identify technical risks, and implement tasks based on priorities.
  • Attend multidisciplinary meetings on behalf of the team.
  • Engage with internal and external suppliers and partners.
  • Define with other teams ESS, EPU, and Integrations departments all aspects of EMC.
  • Prepare Certification Design Compliance Reports with Airworthiness concepts and processes.
  • Demonstrate expertise in at least one aspect of EMC and exhibit in-depth knowledge and skill in various other areas, earning acknowledgment from peers as a knowledgeable professional in the EMC field.
  • Partner with PMO organization to implement build plan.
  • Up to 10% of domestic and international travel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you can contribute :

  • Bachelor's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Engineering Sciences required; Master's or PhD degree preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) years experience in electromagnetic compatibility design.
  • A minimum of five (5) years experience with systems or structures EMC qualification / certification in the aerospace industry.
  • Must have hands-on experience with lab test equipment, such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, network analyzers, power analyzers, and power supplies.
  • Knowledge of commercial or military EMI / EMC test procedures - FCC, CE, RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD 461 or MIL-STD-464, SAE ARPs and high level of familiarity with airworthiness (FAA, EASA) Regulations and Advisory Materials pertaining to EMI, and Electrostatics.
  • Knowledge of automating EMI tests.
  • Knowledge of EMI / EMC simulation software.
  • Capable of working effectively in a team environment and collaborating with other functional areas, including airworthiness, manufacturing, and various engineering teams, to accomplish shared objectives.
  • Willing and able to travel as necessary to conduct field testing.
  • Must be available for future 2nd shift schedules based on business needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive delivery of communication and follow up.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints.
  • Proficiency with Excel VLOOKUP, pivot tables, MS Office Suite.

You may also be able to contribute :

A minimum of one (1) year experience in an aircraft development program.

Base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location. This position is also eligible for a bonus as part of total compensation.

The pay range for this position is : $180,100 $218,300 USD.
