About The Position
- Job Title : Registered Nurse Job Specialty : Nursing - Registered Nurse Medical Center Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 12hr Day Shift Guaranteed Hours : Experience : RN : 2-5 years nursing experience, must have 1 year ED experience within the past year License : Registered Nurse License Certifications : - Required : BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS - Preferred : TNCC, CPI / MOAB, CEN Must-Have : - General ED Skills - Strong IV Skills - Cardiac rhythm interpretation / monitoring - Foley placement / management - NGT placement / management - Knowledgeable in STEMI / CVA / Sepsis treatments - Medication titration Job Description : Level IV Trauma Center, Level III NICU, Primary Stroke Center with 277 hospital beds- ED Unit has 20 beds, 8 overflow, and 4 CA chairs- Accepts first-time travelers with 3+ years ED experience- Patient types : Neonates to Geriatric, including 10%-15% pediatrics, chest pain, dizziness, syncope, strokes, sepsis, ortho, respiratory distress / failure, STEMI, COVID, Behavioral Health-Med Clearance- RN patient ratios : 1 : 3-4 Days, 1 : 4-5 Nights- Support on the unit includes a CNA ratio, receptionist / HUC 24 / 7, a charge nurse who will take a patient assignment as needed, and an ED educator available Monday to Friday- Technology / Equipment used includes EMR : EPIC (experience required within the last 2 years), IV pumps : Alaris, and medication dispensing : Pyxis- Floating is based on facility needs;
- travelers float first and will not take patient assignments but work as helping hands, taskers, sitters, and runners- Orientation includes one shift;
the first couple of hours meeting with the supervisor for onboarding, remainder of shift on the unit with a preceptor- Scheduling includes weekend rotation every other weekend, holiday expectations of one, and a schedule cycle of 6 weeks, with the schedule received 1-2 weeks in advance- Scrub color : Any professional color (no camo, denim, or hoodies)
