Position Summary :

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Faculty Group Practice Laboratory Accessioner I (35).

In this role, the successful candidate Position Summary : Assists with preparation and delivery of pathology specimens, maintenance of specimen log, and day-to-day operations of specimen handling.

Job Responsibilities :

• Open / Remove specimens from bags.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Word Processing / Typing Prepares and proofreads memos, reports and applications. Independently prepares responses to routine correspondence.
• Communicate effectively with other healthcare providers, supervisors and peers.
• Complete other duties as directed by the Administrative Manager / Supervisor.
• Assist with special projects related to Dermatopathology.
• Cover responsibilities of other Project Associates if they are absent.
• Rotating contents of drawers for filing system
• Inventory control of supplies used.
• Miscellaneous filing of pathology reports and slides.
• Packaging and transporting specimens between laboratory and pathology offices.
• Facilitate process for preparation of mailing and workflow
• Sort-out specimens for different processing areas
• Triage specimens based on clinical urgency.
• Scan the requisition from into the LIS system
• Barcode label the requisition and specimen bottle.
• Enter clinical description.
• Cross-reference any prior patient history.
• Enter patient demographics, clinician information in the LIS system.
• Report discrepancies to QA analyst.
• Sort-out each specimen by referring clinician.
• Check insurance information on the requisition form.
• Ensure the specimen requisition matches the specimen bottle.
• Proofread pathology requisition forms for spelling and grammar.
• Organize and lay out delivered specimens from clinicians.

Minimum Qualifications :

To qualify you must have a Minimum Qualifications : High School Diploma or the equivalent is required. Minimum of 1 year related experience in an office setting or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Effective Oral, written communication and interpersonal skills. Computer Skills Working knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power point and Access.

Ability to develop basic formulae for spreadsheets; set up routine computer procedures; Ability to access e-mail, electronic calendars, and other basic office support software.

Ability to proofread documents and write clear, concise 1st draft. Ability to type at a speed of at least 45 net words per minutes.

Knowledge of standard office practices. Ability to multi-task while paying attention to details. Ability to use standard office equipment such as copy machines, multi-line telephones, fax machines.

Preferred Qualifications :

Preferred Qualifications : Associate's Degree in a related field with 2 Years of related experience in an office setting is preferred.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements.

The salary range for the role is $48,274.09 - $48,760.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.

The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses / incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
