Overview

Senior Consultant I (Technology Designer) at Thinkbox Technology Group. This role focuses on facilitating the design of technology systems, including voice, data, structured cabling, OSP, ISP, and other low-voltage systems. It involves integrating with project management groups to plan, organize, and coordinate cross-functional IT initiatives, including networking, switching, A / V, manufacturing equipment, laboratory equipment, and medical devices, depending on the building type in scope. Frequent domestic travel may be required based on client demand. Strong communication and analytical skills are essential to bridge business and IT infrastructure teams.

Salary : $105K - $130K

Responsibilities

Technical Design & Consulting

  • Proficient in the following technologies to engage with experts, identify actions in meetings, and provide clients with updates using appropriate technical terminology : Voice and Data Networks; Building Automation; Audio Visual systems and sound masking; CCTV and Access Control; Medical and Lab equipment; Manufacturing equipment.
  • Prepare designs for technology systems, including voice, data, structured cabling (horizontal and vertical for both ISP and OSP), and other low-voltage systems.
  • Coordinate system scope, design layout, and drawings with the client and other disciplines.
  • Perform site visits to document existing systems and building conditions.
  • Communicate effectively with a team-oriented approach.
  • Analyze telecommunications, IT, and low-voltage systems and develop appropriate system concepts, layouts, and details.
  • Document construction drawings with concepts suitable for plan check, bidding, and construction.
  • Oversee projects from inception through final transition, working with senior management, clients, and subcontractors to manage schedule, cost, and scope.
  • Resolve complex design problems and prepare technical specifications for division 27 using CSI formatting.
  • Review and evaluate shop drawings and product submittals; respond to RFIs throughout the project lifecycle using tools like Procore, E-builder, or others.
  • Visit construction sites to inspect work and prepare detailed findings reports with remediation recommendations.
  • Research modern technical concepts and methodologies to present to clients and mentor teams.
  • Translate technical concepts into business-level / user-level language to streamline communication.

Project control :

  • Manage project scope to ensure on-time delivery, quality, and budget adherence.
  • Evaluate key project deliverables to ensure traceability of requirements, high quality, and client acceptance; coordinate formal sign-off with account director and client.
  • In situations where project control is at risk, create contingency plans and adjust schedule, scope, or budget as needed.
  • Project communication :

  • Collaborate with the account director to ensure clients understand expectations, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and progress.
  • When needed, create customized reporting for clients or team members to obtain sign-off on deliverables or documentation.
  • Use sound judgment in project communications; keep stakeholders apprised of activities in a timely manner.
  • Communicate progress, risks, expectations, timelines, milestones, and other key metrics to clients and team members.
  • Client management

  • Continuously seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
  • Build a knowledge base of each client's business, organization, and objectives.
  • Manage day-to-day client interactions and set realistic expectations.
  • Develop lasting relationships with client personnel and communicate effectively to identify needs and evaluate solutions.
  • Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position has training responsibilities. Sr. Consultant I is responsible for training and developing team members assigned to projects they support or manage.
  • May be assigned additional duties as requested by management.
  • Position Type / Expected Hours of Work :

    Full-time. The Senior Consultant I works a standard work week but may require evenings and weekends for program activities, cutovers, or other project efforts.

    Travel :

    Travel is based on project needs. The position is primarily remote from the home office during the business day; up to 50% out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected depending on project / client / company needs.

    Experience and Education :

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience designing, estimating, and implementing medium to large-scale cabling and network infrastructure.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in project management (as a project manager or project engineer) for facilities or infrastructure teams.
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent is highly desired.
  • RCDD Certification is required.
  • PMP Certification or equivalent is desirable but not required.
  • Required Technical Knowledge :

  • RCDD in good standing.
  • Other industry certificates such as OSP, NTS, CCDA, CCNA, CTS, and CTS-D are a plus.
  • Solid working knowledge of Structured Cabling Systems from installation and design perspectives.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, including creating diagrams in Visio.
  • Proficient in Bluebeam for markup of design drawings.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and / or Revit a plus but not required.
  • Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, EIA, TIA, and other applicable codes related to IT, low voltage, and telecommunications system design and layout.
  • May need to obtain entry-level technical certifications at the client's request for emerging technologies.
