SUMMARY

A worldwide provider of biological and in vitro products to pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations. We specialize in control and disease state matrices manufactured from human and animal blood, plasma, and serum, which are used in drug discovery, compound development, clinical and research diagnostics.

Our products enable scientists and biomedical researchers to better understand the pharmacokinetics and drug metabolism of newly discovered compounds and the effect on disease processes

The Logistics Coordinator will perform inbound sample receipt and accessioning, kit production sample assessments and outbound shipping functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Logistics

Kit Production

Manual creation of specimen kit configuration for site collections

Receiving / Shipping

  • Receive, manifest, and upload data for all incoming and outgoing shipments
  • Package and ship all outgoing shipments.
  • Ensure all incoming and outgoing shipments meet specifications including requirements of temperature sensitive product and dangerous goods.
  • Communicate with Order Management and Customer Service on a daily basis to determine special shipment needs with daily orders and pull & ships.
  • Determines method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates
  • Follow and create processes according to standard operating procedures.
  • Utilize internal software applications as well as courier software for proper tracking of all inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Arrange US Customs clearance and delivery details for all incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Support prepare US export documents.
  • Troubleshoot shipment delays.
  • Communicate shipment discrepancies internally immediately and track and report regularly on shipping metrics.
  • Ensure fulfillment of consumable supplies to all procurement sites per product specifications
  • Pull customer orders for customer shipment or lab service per Order Management pull request.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Order Fulfillment

  • Pick and pull orders for customer orders
  • Outbound sample assessment

Facilities, Inventory, and Equipment management

  • Maintain facilities and equipment according to ISO and CAP requirements.
  • Support Biorepository Inventory Management
  • Perform monthly physical inventory counts and reporting.
  • Maintain personal compliance with relevant health and safety requirements.
  • Perform Biorepository Freezer Core Preventive and Scheduled Maintenance Schedule.
  • Maintain Master Control document and Training.

TELECOMMUTING REQUIREMENTS (if applicable) : Not Applicable

This position is in Detroit and the employee will be expected to be on site for the first 6 months of the job, with telecommuting possible after that time.

While telecommuting, the employee is required to have a designated, in-home workspace and reliable internet connection.

Education and / or Experience

  • Experience with Biological Specimen handling and Universal Precautions
  • Associates Degree or Strong working experience desired

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Strong technical background and technical understanding, laboratory and / or medical experience a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Time management skills with the ability to effectively manage and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with both customers and internal teams.
  • Ability to be persistent yet professional when working with our sites.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Intermediate understanding of MS office, including Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Administrative While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working in professional office environment using standard office equipment.

This position regularly requires large amounts of time to be spent using and viewing computer screens and equipment, which generally entails regular and repetitive motions.

Laboratory and Facilities- While performing the duties of this job the employee will be working in a laboratory and biorepository facility that require the proper use of personal protective equipment.

Use computer equipment while accessioning

  • Contact with dry ice for extended periods of time.
  • Willingness to work additional hours outside of the normal work shift to ensure departmental goals are met (evenings and weekends)

A full-time Monday through Friday workweek with general business hours and flexibility to occasionally work additional hours as needed and approved by management.
