What you will do

Self-starter but under general direction, responsible for the design, configuration, and operation of complete building control systems to meet project requirements. Accountable to field teams for the quality, timeliness, and efficiency of designs. Develops complex software programs, databases, graphics, commissioning, and troubleshooting to ensure proper operations of the building control system. Provides detailed information and submittals to communicate design and operation to customers, consultants, Johnson Controls field installation team, and subcontractors.

How you will do it

  • Designs and configures technically complex building control systems as defined by the contract documents. Creates flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of materials, network layouts, and electrical schematics as required.
  • Develops and tests software programs, databases, and graphics necessary to operate the system per the project requirements.
  • Coordinates and creates the necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation.
  • Selects, orders, and tracks the delivery of materials for assigned projects. Coordinates factory-mounting processes to meet factory and project schedules.
  • Assists in the loading and commissioning of all system and network-level controllers. Validates complete system functionality and troubleshoots problems with subcontractors and other trades.
  • Provides field change information for the creation of as-built drawings and software.
  • Informs management and stakeholders of job progress and issues.
  • Assists in site-specific training for the owner / operator on the building control system.
  • Participates in release meetings. Performs value engineering to optimize costs while maintaining customer satisfaction.
  • May provide work direction and mentorship to Systems technicians during commissioning activities.

Additional responsibilities include developing milestones, tracking progress, completing time sheets in JCI EPIC software, and participating in team meetings. Adheres proactively to safety standards, prioritizing employee and subcontractor safety. Coordinates with external resources as needed to maintain project schedules.

What we look for

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and / or minimum 3 years' experience.
  • Experience Considerations :

  • Knowledge of the construction or HVAC industry.
  • Knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems, and subsystems.
  • Experience with integration of low voltage building sub-systems using protocols like LON, BacNet.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively to non-technical audiences.
  • Advanced computer skills, especially with drafting tools.
