Technical Project Manager

The Hired Guns
New York, New York, US
$80K-$90K a year
Full-time
We are sorry. The job offer you are looking for is no longer available.

The Hired Guns are seeking a hyper-organized Technical Project Manager with two to three years’ experience in project-managing multiple large, complex website builds.

You’ll be joining a top-tier digital agency whose clients have a major impact on people’s lives : how they get healthcare, where they go to college, how they manage their money, and more.

Make sure to read the full description below, and please apply immediately if you are confident you meet all the requirements.

Salary range : $80,000 to $90,000 per year

The Nitty Gritty

The backstory on the company and why they need to hire you!

As the Technical Project Manager, you’ll own the project plans for major website builds and migrations for huge clients whose sites offer complex functionality and draw millions of eyeballs.

We’re talking big financial institutions, healthcare systems, and universities, among other massive organizations. You’ll be at the nexus of a fast-paced environment, coordinating skillfully between development, design, and the client tech team to facilitate communication flows, develop estimates and timelines, prioritize deliverables, anticipate blockers, and execute releases.

You’ll document and track requirements and features throughout the project lifecycle as well as manage the QA process. Your thoroughness, resourcefulness, and strong interpersonal skills will make you an indispensable factor in the success of your clients’ digital strategies.

Why You?

How you’ll know if you’re a fit

You have a firm grasp of project management, with enough knowledge of the design and development processes for a big site build that you can partner effectively with designers, front-end and back-end web developers, the client partners, outside vendors, and other key players.

You have a bachelor’s degree (preferably in computer science or another technical discipline or in business) and have two to three years of project management experience under your belt.

Agency experience is a must, most preferably with work on major financial-services builds. (We may consider non-agency candidates if they’ve worked at large financial services firms or academic institutions with large internal site-build capabilities.)

When we say technical project manager, we mean technical . You’re fluent in the concepts and terminology of the website development process, you have a solid sense of the tradeoffs inherent in various design choices, and you understand deployment protocols, source control, hosting, and migrations.

You know what questions to ask and you can read between the lines of the answers you get. You’re skillful in shifting gears to communicate effectively with collaborators from all different functional areas, and you can juggle multiple projects and competing priorities successfully.

We’ll expect you to show up equipped with all the key skills you’ll need to succeed : project tracking and management tools (Trello, Pivotal, JIRA, Mavenlink), CMSs (WordPress is a must, and Drupal would be a big plus), and more.

The Inside Skinny

Why you should quit your job right now and join this team!

This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled and well-regarded junior project manager to up their game, tack some impressive case studies onto their track record, and prepare for bigger and broader responsibilities as a digital producer and beyond.

The Hired Guns does not and will not discriminate in considering and referring candidates for employment, or in its treatment or advancement of its employees, and will not tolerate harassment, on the basis of race, color, religion, gender (including gender identity and expression), sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, or any other status protected by applicable federal, state or local law.
