Description :
Seeking candidates with experience in a cardiology setting. EKG skills are required, along with experience in taking vital signs and updating medication records.
HIPAA compliance and medical terminology training will be provided during onboarding.
Requirements :
- Certification : Medical Assistant (MA) certification is mandatory.
- Experience : Minimum of 4-5 years as a Medical Assistant.
- Additional Certification : Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (must include skills assessment).
- Education : High school diploma or equivalent; graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is highly preferred.
- Experience : Leadership experience preferred; 3+ years in a Medical Assistant role required.
- Skills : Strong interpersonal and communication skills, knowledge of medical terminology, and experience with electronic medical records.
Responsibilities :
- Provide direct patient care in a clinical setting, including obtaining vital signs, performing EKGs, phlebotomy, and verifying medications.
- Prepare for office hours by gathering charts, scheduling tests, and setting up exam rooms.
- Assist with examinations, procedures, and lab tests; may help with non-narcotic medication renewals and authorizations per guidelines.
- Administer medications, including vaccines and injections, under physician or nurse practitioner orders.
- Support patient flow, assist with special procedures, handle requisitions, and route communications.
- Coordinate patient care, including scheduling surgeries, diagnostic procedures, and follow-ups.
- Document patient interactions and care accurately and in a timely manner.
- Answer patient and family questions related to treatments, diagnosis, and procedures.
- If applicable, enter orders in the electronic medical record per department guidelines.
- Maintain inventory and ensure exam rooms are stocked, clean, and meet regulatory standards.
- Adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, and regulatory standards; participate in training and quality improvement programs.
Certifications : Candidates must have or obtain Medical Assistant credentials through in-person proctored exams by NHA, AAMA, or AMT within six months of hire (or sooner, as required).
Online proctored exams are not accepted.
