Child Care Lead Teacher- Job Description
Purpose :
To provide a warm, nurturing, safe and loving environment where self concepts are enhanced, independence encouraged & individuality respected.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities :
- Offer a program that meets the emotional, physical, intellectual, and social needs of both the individual and the group
- Interact with children and encourage their involvement in group activities
- Treat each child with dignity and respect.
- Prepare an environment that is organized, clean and appealing that allows the children to grow and explore
- Maintain order in the classroom
- Establish & maintain good communication with parents on a daily basis / report cards & conferences
- Maintain report cards
- Consider the individual child in relationship to his cultural & socio economic background
- Be responsible for taking class to all scheduled meal times and serve / sit with children.
- Responsible of supervising children while in classroom, bathroom, playgrounds, vans, and on field trips
- Responsible for the welfare, health, and safety of the children in the group at all times
- Attend staff / in-service meetings
- Plan weekly lesson plans based on center curriculum
- Supervise / train assistant Child Care providers
- Observe, record, and report significant individual and group behaviors
- Use appropriate and positive discipline and train staff so that discipline is consistent
- Comply with applicable universal precautions & infections control guidelines & procedures
- Assist in evacuation of the building in an emergency and be able to respond immediately to any emergency situation
Minimum Qualifications :
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Exhibit sincere interest in working with Children and is knowledgeable of Children's development and growth
- Willing to continually increase knowledge in Child Care field
- Clean and neat appearance
- Relate to both Children and adults
- Consistent attendance
- Physical examination by a physician
- Proof of citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S.
- Background check completed
- Demonstrate the following qualities :
- Self-motivation
- follow directions
- make good judgments
- respond immediately to any emergency situation
- Physical constraints required include :
- ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without hearing aid
- ability to see / read newsprint with or without corrective lenses
- speak and be understood under normal circumstances
- lift and carry children / supplies weighing up to 50 pounds
- use of arms, hands, legs & feet with or without corrective devices to accomplish the job, including evacuation of the building during emergencies
