Job Description :
Our client is seeking a seasoned FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) Design Engineer with expertise in advanced signal processing techniques and Electronic Warfare, including both Electronic Support and Electronic Attack.
This role involves contributing to the design, development, and testing of sophisticated electronic warfare and multifunction systems.
The engineer will engage in all phases of the design lifecycle, emphasizing coding, simulation, synthesis, place and route, and verification testing.
This position suits an engineer who thrives on complex challenges, enjoys collaborating with a team of skilled engineers, and can also excel as an individual contributor.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead a team in the implementation and verification of complex designs in large FPGA devices, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
- Use simulation, synthesis, and placement tools like ModelSim, Synplicity, Xilinx Vivado / ISE, and Altera Quartus for FPGA development.
- Apply laboratory debugging techniques with equipment such as signal generators, digital oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and BERTS to troubleshoot and refine designs.
- Address timing closure challenges in large-scale FPGA projects.
- Implement and manage industry-standard interfaces (e.g., Ethernet, SPI, UART, SDRAM, DDR3, JESD, PCIe).
- Engage in tasks involving modulation, demodulation, digital filters, Forward Error Correction (FEC), Electronic Warfare, and networking.
Basic Qualifications :
A Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with at least 7 years of related experience.
Without a degree, 13 years of relevant software engineering experience is required.
- U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
- Must be eligible to obtain a security clearance.
Preferred Skills :
- A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Over 9 years of FPGA design experience, particularly with Digital Signal Processing (DSP).
- Proven leadership in managing FPGA design projects.
- Proficiency in VHDL (preferred) or Verilog hardware development languages.
- Experience with Electronic Support and Electronic Attack signal processing.
- Expertise in implementing complex DSP algorithms within FPGA devices; equivalent experience with ASIC devices is also valued.
- Experience with high-speed serial interfaces (3+ Gbps).
- Knowledge of code revision management tools like Git / Clearcase and familiarity with programming languages such as C / C++ / C# and Matlab / Simulink.
Candidate Details : Candidates should have 7-10 years of experience and be at a mid-senior level of seniority. Management experience is not required, but a Bachelor's degree is necessary.
Occasional travel may be required.
