We are seeking a dedicated Speech-Language Interpreter (SLI) to join our team in Adairsville, GA. This position involves providing one-on-one support to a high school student who is deaf or hard of hearing.
The SLI will facilitate communication between the student and teachers, ensuring access to instruction and participation in classroom activities.
Responsibilities :
- Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa for the student.
- Facilitate communication between the student and teachers, classmates, and other school staff.
- Provide support during classroom instruction, small group activities, and individual assignments.
- Assist with note-taking, clarification of information, and comprehension of content.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other support staff to meet the student's educational needs.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Requirements :
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English.
- Certification as a Speech-Language Interpreter (SLI) or willingness to obtain certification.
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to adapt to the student's schedule and needs.
