Position and Project Overview :

San Diego BioMed (SDB) is seeking a full-time or part-time, focused and detail-oriented Research Associate to work in the laboratory of one of its Professors / Principal Investigators. The lab is focused on chromatin 3D organization / replication timing using pluripotent stem cells / in vitro differentiation / genome editing with CRISPR / genomics. The major goals of the lab are to understand the mechanisms regulating replication timing during cell fate transitions. The Research Associate will perform a variety of hands-on research duties in the laboratory.

Project details :

Identifying the DNA sequence requirements of ERCEs (early replication Control Elements) using a high throughput insertion assay.

Job Duties :

  • Perform pluripotent stem cell culture and engineering, screening by PCR
  • Prepare NGS libraries (mainly Repli-seq, Bru-seq, more as needed)
  • Update lab inventories (supplies, chemicals, reagents) and ordering consumables.
  • Draft and update lab protocols.
  • Monitor and maintain lab equipment, arrange repair if needed
  • Write up experiments (date, description and inferences) in a timely manner.
  • Assist PI with regulatory documents
  • Perform other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications :

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in or related to the areas of biomedical sciences
  • Candidates with a Ph.D. in a related area are also encouraged to apply
  • Minimum 3 years of experience.
  • Previous experience in mammalian cell culture and molecular biology
  • Familiarity with LINUX
  • Self-motivated and independent problem solving are important
  • Familiarity with genomics data management and / or analysis or willingness to learn
  • Pay Range :

    The pay range for this position is : $55,000 -70,000 per year. San Diego BioMed will evaluate various factors in determining the final salary offered to the successful candidate.
