Job Description

We are an award winning smart building start-up with patented tech looking to disrupt our market and scale globally. We now have an amazing opportunity for a talented and experienced Machine Learning Engineer to make a difference in a rapidly progressing business.

We will consider applicants looking for full time, part-time and freelance roles.

Please note that this role is a remote role and you must currently be based in the UK / EU to apply.

The Role :

As a highly skilled Machine Learning Engineer, you will be contribute to developing our IoT data pipeline and analytics products and be responsible for :

Model Deployment :

  • Deploy machine learning models developed in Python into production environments
  • Ensure models are scalable, robust, and perform efficiently in production.
  • Monitor and maintain deployed models, addressing any issues that arise.

Integration :

  • Collaborate with software engineers to integrate machine learning models into applications and systems.
  • Develop APIs and other interfaces to allow seamless interaction with deployed models.
  • Ensure compatibility and smooth integration with existing infrastructure.

Automation and Optimisation :

  • Automate the deployment pipeline to streamline the transition from development to production.
  • Optimise model inference times and resource utilisation.
  • Implement continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI / CD) practices for machine learning models.

Monitoring and Maintenance :

  • Set up monitoring systems to track model performance and health in production.
  • Implement logging and alerting mechanisms to detect and respond to issues promptly.
  • Regularly retrain and update models to maintain accuracy and performance.

Collaboration and Documentation :

  • Work closely with our team of data scientists and expert engineers to understand model requirements and specifications.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions to improve model deployment processes.
  • Document deployment processes, model performance, and system changes.

Requirements

The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a go-to attitude, plenty of initiative and a strong desire to pioneer new technology in building operations.

Excellent problem solving abilities are also important in the role.

Key Skills and Experience :

  • 2+ years as a Machine Learning engineer
  • Proficiency in Python and Tensorflow -Strong knowledge of SQL databases, data warehousing and ETL processes
  • Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms such as regression, classification, clustering and deep learning.
  • Experience in developing and consuming RESTful APIs and MQTT -Understanding cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.

Desirable skills and experience :

  • Experience working with working with IoT devices and software -NodeRed
  • Business Information and Visualisation tools -Monitoring -Time series data storage and analysis
  • Scripting in Javascript and / or Python -STEM degree -Software engineering (Git, Agile, SQL)
  • DevOps (IoT, Azure, AWS, Docker, Terraform) -Data engineering (ETL, pipelines)
  • Stats, Data science, Machine Learning, Probabilistic programming (scipy, numpy, pytorch) -Building management systems and protocols

We are looking for someone with :

  • Fluent English who can work the core hours of 10.00-16.00 BST
  • You will also be expected to be hands-on with the hardware, be comfortable remote configuring on the command-line in embedded Linux, and be happy to travel to site installations to install and commission devices, and configure routing and networking when required
  • Willingness to adapt to fast changing priorities and learn new skills in a dynamic startup environment -Desire to contribute to product roadmap and technology choices
  • Open and respectful attitude to collaboration and knowledge-sharing in a cross-disciplinary team of experienced engineers and scientists
