Area Manager - Northwest Arkansas / Southwest CIty, Missouri area
Position type and expected hours of work : Hours of work will depend on the job event and manager. Evening, nights, and weekend work will be required as job duties demand.
Job Overview :
The Area Manager is responsible for directing, coordinating, and overseeing the collection activities of Interstate Class A Interstate CDL Drivers in a geographically dispersed area.
Responsibilities include providing strategic leadership and direction, route coverage for drivers within assigned area which may result in being in the field 25% - 75% of the time to assist in new customer route coverage, rollouts and equipment drops.
This position requires a deep focus on communication, safety, outstanding service to our customers and driving efficiency in order to increase productivity and support a culture of driving employee and customer engagement.

Employee Referral Program : Earn a bonus for any qualifying candidate you refer to the company. The candidate must complete 90 days and be in good standing with the company, for the referral to be paid out.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Manage the day-to-day operations and provide daily support to a diverse team of 5-15 Class A CDL drivers, Lead Support, and utility workers across an geographically dispersed area to ensure quality, safety, efficiency, performance, and profitability.
- Oversee personnel needs of the department including selecting prioritized coaching, training, and evaluating employee performance.
Provide input into hiring, termination, and promotion decisions.
- Assist in the development and implementation of training programs to ensure consistent performance while building relationships with a Team to encourage retention.
- Assist in scheduling and routing new customer roll-outs, equipment drops or ride-a-longs with the training team with new and current drivers to evaluate and train.
- Act as the liaison between operations, drivers, Dispatch and any other support team.
- Assist Dispatch in determining the methods and areas of route coverage needed by scheduling, directing, and solving activities related to dispatching and the tracking of all drivers.
- Review daily / weekly routes, determines potential gains from re-routing, and recommend re-routes.
- Review and manage Open Cases
- Assist Dispatch in investigate all Service Failures, Out of Geofence and provide an action plan to prevent future occurrences.
- Conduct scheduled performance reviews and submit recommendations for salary adjustments.
- Enforce company policies and issuance of coaching / disciplinary documentation.
- Act as or designate a driver advocate toward internal departments to answer driver questions, driver concerns, and resolve issues.
- Ensure routing technology is used and routes are executed as designed.
- Enforce safety procedures are adhered to Company Operating Standards. This includes reviewing driver DOT logs for HOS compliance.
- When necessary, maintain the use of our Transportation Management Software (TMW) to keep track of daily loads and ensure that drivers are adhering to processes and procedures while running routes.
- Maintain, monitor, and act on expense control initiatives to actively manage driver spend.
- Maintain asset inventory lists and files

Work environment : While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions.
The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and / or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, or overwhelming odors.
Physical demands : To successfully perform the essential functions of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, climb, and hear.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Travel : Travel may be frequent depending on the job assigned.
Preferred education and experience : High School Diploma or GED. Must have a valid driver's license. 2-3 years of experience, preferred.
Class A CDL is a plus. Farm experience is preferred. Must be able to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
