Job Overview :
The Patient Access Representative accurately and promptly collects all pertinent information at the initial point of registration to ensure the proper billing process occurs.
Qualifications : Required :
Required :
High School Diploma or GED
Preferred :
- Prior experience with hospital Patient Access / Registration and EPIC
- Knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance
Certifications and Licenses Required :
N / A
Scheduling Requirements :
- Day shift
- Saturday rotation
- Per diem, following a period of orientation and training
Essential Functions :
- Interviews patient and or family to complete registration
- Obtain / confirm all demographic and financial information is complete and accurate. Obtain and copy ID and insurance cards.
Complete and copy all consent forms
- Accurately complete the Medicare Secondary payer questionnaire (MSP)
- Answers department phones quickly and relays all messages
- Collect deposits, deductibles and co-pays so as to meet required cash targets
- Maintain the required productivity and accuracy percentage as specified for job level
- Obtain Advance Medical Directive information, patient specific
- Adheres to patient rights : provides for the confidential treatment of all communications and records
