Position : Distribution Engineer
Pay : $ 29+ / hour (depends on years of experience)
Location : Northern NJ
Duration : 6-month contract to hire

Shift : M-F 8-5pm
Musts :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- Execution of distribution projects from kickoff through design approved
- Experience with utility reliability projects
- Customer interaction
- Process documentation
- Candidate must live in New Jersey (ideally Northern New Jersey) or Eastern Pennsylvania, near the border of New Jersey
Plusses :
- 2-4 years relevant power distribution experience or QA / QC experience
- Experience providing estimated costs, development of a BOM, calculating the CIAC
- Experience with design tools such as Pole Foreman, O-Calc, Spida-Calc
- Experience using Distribution Design Studio (DDS) performing Electric Distribution Design
- Experience with the Work Management System CREWS
- Relevant management experience of 1+ years
- Relevant experience with the utility FirstEnergy, or JCPL
Day to Day :
Currently, we have an opportunity for a Distribution Engineer for an electric utility engineering company. This position will be working with our growing Power Distribution Engineering team.
This role will require leading other distribution engineers, working directly with clients and ensuring the reputation of high quality is maintained.
Candidate will be remote to start the position with the intention of transitioning to in-office eventually. Candidate must live in New Jersey or Eastern PA, ideally in the Trenton to Clifton region (Northern New Jersey), but Southern NJ and Eastern PA will be considered.
- Independently develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems for electric utility customers
- Review work provided by Client and assess requirements of scopes.
- Perform engineering calculations such as : structural analysis for wood pole loading, guying calculations, specifying conductor sags and tensions for recommended spans, and calculation of voltage drop and flicker.
- Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews to ensure all applicable engineering and construction standards have been met.
- Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design
- Gain experience in coordinating conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements, assessing and developing large design packages for complex cable / conduit projects in dense urban environments, work permit development, easements, and ROW applications
- Be comfortable in both a field and office setting : the role may require customer-site visits to collect field data that will assist in developing work packages
