This Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (DRT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR), position is assigned to the VA Roseburg Healthcare System, Roseburg 653 and Eugene 653BY Radiology Service, Magnetic Resonance Imaging section.
The Technologist's primary duty is in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), where he / she operates an MRI scanner with an associated automatic injector system, and MRI Workstation.
Basic Requirements :
- Citizenship : Citizen of the United States. (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.)
- English Language Proficiency : Medical Technologists must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Policy.
- Certification : All applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, Radiography (ARRT) (R).
Advanced ARRT certification is required for assignments that include computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), or Mammography (M) duties performed independently, as applicable.
Education : Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months in duration in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or other recognized accrediting agencies.
Grade Determinations :
Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist, GS-9 Experience : At least one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, directly related to the position being filled that demonstrates the clinical competencies described at that level.
In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the following technical KSAs :
- Ability to balance the needs of patients and staff while still performing complex scans and procedures.
- Knowledge of techniques for gathering relevant information from the medical record, significant others, and health care providers.
- Ability to assess factors that may contraindicate the procedure.
- Knowledge of basic first aid and basic life support practices related to radiography.
- Knowledge of physical assessment, aseptic techniques, intravenous methods and techniques, and universal precautions.
- Knowledge of pre-procedural, procedural, and post-procedural care of patients.

Duties : The duties of this position include, but are not limited to :
- Accurately operating a wide variety of imaging equipment to obtain examinations of acceptable quality.
- Performing all aspects of MRI imaging of various body parts.
- Maintaining competence in Venipuncture and referring to the Radiology Service procedure manual.
- Receiving and interpreting all radiology requests for accuracy.
- Coordinating examinations that require radiologist direction.
Work Schedule : Monday-Friday, 0800-1630
