GENERAL SUMMARY

Unit Overview :

The -bed Henry Ford Macomb Hospital is a Level 2 trauma center, providing advanced emergency services to more than 56, adult and pediatric patients annually.

Henry Ford Macomb is a Top Heart Hospital with a 24 / 7 Cardiac Cath Lab and Primary Stroke Center. In addition, we are leaders in sepsis management.

The hospital has consistently earned Top Hospital and an A grade for patient safety performance from The Leapfrog Group.

We serve the needs of a diverse, high acuity patient population. 34% of ED patients seen are admitted, 72% of all hospital patients are admitted through the Emergency Department, Patient mix : 2% critically ill, 29% emergent care, 9% pediatrics, and 60% all others.

This department consists of 17 senior staff physicians and 23 Emergency residents. There are more than RNs and support personnel employed full-time by the department.

Provides leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality compassionate patient care.

Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to provide, delegate, supervise and document care and teaching of patients and family.

Effectively communicates pertinent patient / family information to health care team.

Participates in finding solutions for variances from patient goals and ensures implementation of solutions.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

BSN preferred.

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.

Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans.

Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.

Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel.

CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSURES REQUIRED

Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
