BANQUET HOUSE ATTENDANT
KEY POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
Compensation : Starting $16.28 to $16..53 per hour to increase at 6 months, 12 months, 24 months) plus percentage of services charges per event.

GENERAL SUMMARY :
To create a clean and comfortable environment for events held within the hotel in accordance with group requests and specifications.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Making the guest feel welcome, and promoting good relations by answering all questions, becoming familiar with names of persons in charge of events, and greeting guests warmly.
- Identifying type of set-up for the room, and organizing the equipment needed by reading the group’s BEO.
- Handling equipment with care, using correct lifting techniques, and not moving more than can be handled at one time.
- Handling air walls by moving sections properly, locking sections together in correct male / female sequence, and pushing sections carefully back into alcove when done.
- Setting up meeting room by carefully reading the BEO, organizing all equipment needed for each set, carefully moving in and setting up tables, neatly placing linen and skirts on tables, placing correct number of chairs around tables and adding all other equipment specified by the BEO and hotel standards.
- Setting up water service by determining from BEO number of water pitchers and glassware needed, placing on tables, filling pitchers not more than one hour before meeting and double checking room setup.
- Testing room lighting, notifying engineering of burned out bulbs when encountered, resetting spot lights and testing podium lights.
- Refreshing meeting rooms for continuing meetings by clearing all soiled dishes, glassware and trash from room; replacing soiled linens, glassware, pads, and pens;
realigning chairs; vacuuming carpet and performing general cleaning of room.
- Maintaining set-up flexibility by reporting guest dissatisfaction with room set-up to supervisor, helping guest with setup information, and maintaining a positive attitude when the guest requests changes to be made.
- Handling linen and skirting by gathering what is needed from the storeroom, keeping all linens and skirts in storeroom organized, placing soiled linens in a dirty linen bag and storing in proper location for pickup, and taking soiled skirts down to housekeeping for dry cleaning pickup.
- Keeping all banquet areas clean, organized and uncluttered. These areas are to include B-level storage, B-level kitchen, B-level hallway, coat check room, 3rd floor storage, South Room storage, Columbia Room storage, Spring Room storage, Visions Room closet, and elevator landings on B, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 28th floors.
- Deep cleaning rooms when not in use by thoroughly vacuuming carpet, spot cleaning carpet, cleaning all walls and doors, cleaning windows and windowsills, polishing wood trim, polishing brass, cleaning pictures, cleaning lighting controls, dusting and cleaning planters, cleaning closets and shelves and sweeping / mopping marble flooring and steps.
- Reporting damaged equipment to supervisor and taking damaged equipment to level P-1 for repair.
- Handling guest packages by locating packages in storeroom when listed on BEO, and delivering packages to room during setup or per guest request.
- Attending and participating in daily Savvy and production meeting by reviewing the current and future banquet events with your manager or supervisor each day at beginning of your shift.
- Maintaining a professional attitude and appearance at all times.
- Perform other duties as requested.
