ASCP Certified Peer Support Specialist

General Summary : As a self-identified individual with lived experience in mental health services, the Peer Support Specialist offers direct supportive care to individuals within the community. These services emphasize rehabilitation and recovery, helping clients develop skills to manage psychiatric symptoms while encouraging the use of natural resources and enhancing community living abilities.

Essential Functions :

• Deliver direct supportive services to individuals facing mental health challenges.
• Assist clients in creating proactive solutions to overcome recovery barriers.
• Complete documentation accurately and promptly.
• Participate in trainings and meetings as required.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or department heads.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills Required :

Preferred Knowledge and Skills : Experience working with adults in health-related fields is a plus.

Required Behavioral Skills :

Minimum Education and Experience : High school diploma or equivalent; must be at least 18 years old and three years older than the youth served.

Required Licenses / Certifications : Completion of state-recognized training for peer support specialists; valid driver's license, insurance, and reliable vehicle.

Preferred Licenses / Certifications : Certification aligned with regional Department of Aging and Disability Services for Peer Support Specialists.
