At the California Department of Justice's Division of Civil Law you will be part of a diverse group of over 5,000 dedicated professionals whose chief mission is to deliver fairness and equality under the law through a broad spectrum of programs and services.
The mission of the Division of Civil Law is to provide skilled legal services to state agencies and officials in trial and appellate litigation, which includes prosecuting and defending matters in state and federal courts and before various administrative tribunals.
The Civil Division includes a diverse set of practice areas including :

Hybrid Work Schedule :
Our Civil Division offers a hybrid work schedule where deputies may largely telework or work in-office at their choosing but are required to attend regularly scheduled in-person meetings at their local office.
Travel and in-person attendance may be required for trials, court appearances, witness interviews, depositions, and operationally as needed.
Salary Ranges :
We are hiring at all levels from recent graduates to senior level attorneys and the following ranges are :
Attorney (less than 5 years of experience) : Salary Range $7,506.00 - $11,676.00
DAG III (at least 5 years of legal experience) : Salary Range $10,536.00 - $14,879.00
DAG IV (at least 6 years of legal experience) : Salary Range $11,644.00 - $15,627.00
