About The Position
Job Title : Surgical Technician Job Specialty : Operating Room Job Duration : 13 Weeks Shift : Mid - 5x8 - 3 : 00AM-11 : 00PM, Monday-Friday Guaranteed Hours : 40 Hours per week Experience : Minimum 2-3 years experience as an Operating Room Surgical Technician License : Not specified Certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA, Professional certification by the AST Must-Have : Experience in General Surgery, Orthopedics, Vascular, Robotics, EMT, Urology Job Description : Responsible for cleaning and managing instruments following standard policies while maintaining updated records.
- Standardize set-ups and utilize surgeon preferences, ensuring the care and proper handling of instruments by organizing all instrumentation before returning to decontamination.
- Maintain a count of sponges, needles, instruments, and administer and label medications according to established policies.
- Adhere to O.R. policies and procedures in handling specimens.- Manage contamination and facilitate decontamination, disinfection, sterilization, and sanitation of instruments and equipment.
- Remove used equipment and properly dispose of contaminated needles and syringes after procedures.- Participate in team conferences to plan and evaluate the effectiveness of patient care, assisting circulators in revising care plans.
- Maintain an up-to-date skills proficiency checklist by checking off equipment and cases, rotating through specialty areas.
- Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 400 lbs., and stand for the duration of the shift.- Identify and cater to the needs of the patient population, modifying care specific to their needs (e.
g., age, culture, language, etc.), including effective communication with patients and caregivers.- Adhere to established organizational competencies and standards.
Schedule Notes : No weekends, no holidays, no on-call, no float requirements.
