Over 10,000 homeless individuals are cared for by Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program each year. We are committed to ensuring that every one of these individuals has access to comprehensive health care, from preventative dental care to cancer treatment.

Job Summary : Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program (BHCHP) is looking for a Senior Media Relations and Communications Lead who will serve as BHCHP’s media contact and will proactively solicit, develop and secure media coverage and publicity for BHCHP.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Communications and working in collaboration with senior leadership, this role will manage crisis communications to clearly communicate to internal and external audiences.

In addition, the Senior Media Relations and Communications Lead will work closely with all BHCHP’s stakeholders to create effective content to best position BHCHP externally.Hours :

Part-time : 20 hours per week, actual schedule to be determined.Responsibilities : Serve as BHCHP’s media point-of-contact.

Manage crisis communications and proactively and consistently engage and communicate with the media to create media coverage that advances BHCHP’s reputation.

Work directly with the Senior Director of Communications to craft and pitch to media strong story concepts.Work with BHCHP Communications team to develop and produce an overall Communications strategy with editorial calendars.

Proactively seek out story ideas and relevant information from BHCHP staff and Communications team and work with the Senior Director of Communications to develop and deliver stories.

Write and / or edit various communications pieces, as needed.Qualifications : Minimum of 10 years’ work experience in media relations and communications, preferably with a focus on health care equity.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.Strong editing skills.Can work independently under deadlines with shifting priorities and with strong time management skills.

Compensation and Benefits : The compensation range is $68,400- $88,998 and is pro-rated based upon part-time hours.BHCHP full time employees are eligible for our competitive time off policy of

4 weeks’ vacation , health, dental and vision insurance, 403B retirement savings plan and employer retirement contribution, and pre-tax MBTA pass program with 40% discount.

In addition, eligible employees will receive yearly increases,

additional compensation of seven thousand five hundred added to your base hiring rate for demonstrated bilingual proficiency
