Join a dedicated healthcare team in a regional medical office serving the Midwest. This full-time Medical Assistant role supports podiatry providers by delivering compassionate patient care and ensuring smooth clinic operations.

General Summary

The Medical Assistant operates within their scope to assist licensed nurses, physicians, or advanced practice providers. This role demands strong organizational skills, professionalism, excellent customer service, attention to detail, multitasking ability, critical thinking, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control and safe patient handling.
  • Provide direct patient interaction such as escorting patients, obtaining vital signs and EKGs, verifying medications and allergies, and documenting medical histories and visit reasons accurately and promptly.
  • Manage phone communications by routing messages and responding to patient inquiries.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients and providers, including communicating test results and assisting with return calls.
  • Assist with medication renewals, authorizations, and administration (oral, IM, SQ) as ordered.
  • Perform point-of-care lab testing and collect specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Schedule appointments, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures as directed by providers.
  • Complete necessary paperwork, prior authorizations, referrals, and documentation efficiently.
  • Monitor and maintain supply inventory and ensure exam areas are clean and well-stocked.
  • Educate patients and guardians about electronic health record access and benefits.
  • Support orientation and training of new medical assistants.
  • Demonstrate accountability, teamwork, adaptability, and maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.

Education

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant or Medical Specialist program or equivalent experience. High school diploma required.

Experience

Preferred : One year of experience as a Medical Assistant or medical specialist, ideally in a clinical setting.

Certification / License

Preferred : Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential from an accredited organization such as AMT. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.

Mental / Physical Requirements

Requires considerable mental focus. Physical demands include lifting up to 35 lbs, frequent walking, standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.

Working Conditions

Exposure to infectious diseases and occasional hostile individuals. Frequent contact with blood and bodily fluids. Minimal physical discomfort expected.
