Purpose
The Texas Institute for Electronics (TIE) is seeking an experienced and innovative Director of Reliability Engineering to lead our reliability efforts in advanced semiconductor technologies, with a focus on 3DHI and advanced packaging.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage the reliability engineering team, overseeing all aspects of reliability testing, analysis, and qualification for TIE's advanced semiconductor products
Develop and implement comprehensive reliability strategies for 3DHI, advanced packaging, and multiple interconnect approaches
Drive continuous improvement in reliability methodologies and processes
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure reliability considerations are integrated into product design and development
Analyze reliability data and provide expert recommendations to improve product performance and longevity
Stay current with industry trends and emerging reliability challenges in advanced semiconductor technologies
Other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
Minimum of 15 years of experience in semiconductor reliability, with a strong focus on electromigration analysis
Extensive knowledge of reliability physics and failure mechanisms in advanced semiconductor technologies
Proven experience with 3DHI, advanced packaging, and various interconnect approaches, including copper damascene, thermo-compression bonding with C4 and copper pillars, and hybrid bonding
Strong leadership and team management skills
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in physical failure analysis techniques
Familiarity with reliability modeling and simulation tools
Publication record in relevant technical journals or conferences
Experience with qualification processes for automotive or other high-reliability applications
Salary Range
$200,000 + depending on qualifications

Work Shift
Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm, with opportunity for flexible schedule

This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
