Senior Project Engineer/ Senior Technical Office Engineer for a Construction Project

Protecnium is an international consulting firm specializing in engineering and technician services ( We are currently looking for a Senior Technical Office Engineer to join our team for a construction project.

• Project : bridge / structure / road
• Location : Louisiana
• Estimated duration of the position : 4 years - In general, when the project ends, we try to place the employee in other projects to give him / her continuity.
• Responsibilities :
• Design Coordination : coordinate all design development and approval processes to ensure they align with project requirements and standards.

Study the project documents including drawings, specifications, BOQ (Bill of Quantity), RFI (Request for information), correspondence,etc.

to take into consideration all the project details during execution.

• Schedule Adherence : monitor and enforce adherence to the agreed-upon schedule for design development and shop drawings with subcontractors, ensuring timely progress.
• Drawing Management : establish and implement a comprehensive drawing management system to organize and track design-related documents.
• Contract Review : review contract documents and provide technical expertise to the project manager on matters affecting construction, including technical methodologies and their impact on time and cost.

Prepare and follow up the Variation Orders and prepare Notice to Claim in cooperation with the Contracts team.

• Technical Queries : prepare and manage technical queries, addressing them with the client and consultants to ensure clarity and resolution.
• Method Statements : assist in the preparation of method statements and procedures related to construction, both structural and architectural, offering technical insights and features for work aspects.
• Drawing Approval : coordinate the approval of drawings and take responsibility for distributing approved drawings for construction to relevant site personnel.
• Quality and Safety : collaborate with site engineers to ensure that all work execution meets the required quality and safety standards.
• Subcontractor Management : support the project manager in overseeing subcontractor works, identifying and addressing any technical deviations as they arise.
• Quantity Take-Off : assist in quantity take-off activities for tenders, contributing to accurate project cost estimations.

Prepare periodical reports such as Quantity Executed Invoices and send them to the concerned departments. Communicate with concerned departments to prepare the general procurement plan.

• Shifts : Monday to Friday : 40 hours weekly.
• Requirements :
• A minimum of 7 years experience as a Technical Office Engineer or similar in highway / bridge / structure projects.
• Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering with structural focus or similar.
• Tertiary education is an asset.
• Experience in Design Build Contracts is preferred.
• Experience in : multidisciplinary work, chairing meetings with the client and the parties involved, coordinating within the areas of the engineering discipline and the construction team.
• Experience working in a multi-cultural environment is a plus.
• Louisiana PE is an asset.
