A Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed healthcare professional who provides nursing care to patients in a variety of healthcare settings, such as acute care hospitals, long-term care facilities, and clinics.
The Float Pool RN is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and serving as a resource for other healthcare staff.
The following are the key duties and responsibilities of a Float Pool RN :
Assessing the needs of patients and developing individualized care plans based on their unique medical and emotional needs.
Administering medications, treatments, and procedures as prescribed by the physician.
Monitoring the patient's vital signs, fluid and electrolyte balance, and blood loss, and reporting any changes or concerns to the physician.
Assisting with diagnostic tests and procedures, such as x-rays and blood tests.
Educating patients and families about their diagnoses, treatments, and care plans, and answering any questions they may have.
Collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure that patients receive the highest quality care possible.
Maintaining accurate and complete patient records, including nursing assessments, care plans, and progress notes.
Flexibility to float to different units / departments as needed, to help cover staffing shortages.
The ideal candidate for this role should have a current RN license, a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, and a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience.
They should also have strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work well in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
This is a not full time but contracted travel position.
