Specifically, you will share in the team's impact on all aspects of designing, building, testing and flying Environmental Control and Life Support (ECLS) flight hardware.

The ECLS System is composed of the essential hardware to allow humans to safely inhabit space. ECLSS circulates air around the vehicle picking up carbon dioxide, humidity and trace contaminants to be scrubbed and provides oxygen for breathing.

The internal cabin pressure is maintained and monitored. Clean drinking water is provided to the crew. The ECLS system also monitors air quality as well as emergencies such as rapid depressurization and fire and counteracts them.

Responsibilities :

  • Develop, release, and support engineering artifacts throughout the product lifecycle to enable flawless hardware fabrication, assembly, verification, test, and operations.
  • Implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide expert technical information.
  • Research and analyze designs, specifications, manuals, and other data to determine the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
  • Develop technical solutions and successfully implement development, testing, and analysis to support technology maturation and down-selects.
  • Collaborate with teams from different functions to ensure the seamless integration of ECLSS systems with other spacecraft subsystems.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • B.S. degree in chemical, mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or environmental engineering or a related engineering field, or equivalent experience.

  • Demonstrated understanding of fundamental chemical processes, thermodynamics, and fluid systems.
  • Showcased technical expertise in analyzing and designing fluid systems and chemical processes for spacecraft life support or environmental control systems in various settings.
  • Experience in researching and developing technologies for life support systems in extreme environments, like water purification and air revitalization.
  • Familiarity and experience with hands-on prototyping and design, experiment design, test methods, and general laboratory skills.
  • Experience managing and working collaboratively in small teams on fast-paced projects.
  • History of developing solutions with partially defined requirements and changing criteria.
