Job Description
1. Assists in monthly inspections of pharmacy and patient care areas for expired medications.
2. Assists in par-stocking and delivery of medications / medication cart updates to the nursing units.
3. Fills and replenishes and exchanges the C-Lockers, code cart trays, anesthesia trays, emergency boxes, cassettes, Pyxis machine, etc.
4. Assists in the preparation of non-patient specific batches of IV solutions in accordance with established protocols
5. Assists in the filling of "Requisitions from the patient care units or clinics".
6. Assists in packaging and labeling of pharmaceuticals into unit of use or into unit dose blisters.
7. Assists in the repackaging of pharmaceuticals for the outpatient pharmacy.
8. Assists in the unpacking of drugs from shipments in the stockroom
9. Assists in the filling of orders in the stockroom and keeping accurate physical inventory.
10. Assists in replenishing shelves of medications and other supplies in the inpatient and outpatient pharmacy.
11. Assists in the replenishing of printers with NYS prescription blanks.
12. Assists in the maintaining and replenishing of the ROBOTS and Pyxis MedStations
13. Assists the pharmacist in filling prescriptions and any other pharmacy job related duties.
Minimum Qualifications
Effective April 25, 2021, all new hires into the title of Pharmacy Technician must be licensed to practice as a
Registered Pharmacy Technician by the NYSED.
