Position Details Title Assistant or Associate Professor in the Master of Architecture Program Appointment Status Tenure Track Department IU Bloomington Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture + Design Location Columbus Position Summary The Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture and Design is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic colleague for a position in the Master of Architecture Program as a full-time untenured Assistant / Associate Professor ), to begin August 1, 2025.

Ideal candidates should have a minimum Ph.D. ABD with expertise in the history and theory of architecture and / or urban design.

Candidates should also possess an outstanding design portfolio with experience teaching history and theory lecture courses and architectural design studios.

Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate cross-disciplinary approaches that integrate both art and architecture.

In addition to service through committees, the successful candidate will teach graduate-level lecture and seminar courses corresponding to their area of focus, along with architectural design studios.

The successful candidate must also demonstrate potential to produce scholarship through publications, exhibitions, or symposia with national or international recognition.

The primary location of this position is Columbus, Indiana. The J. Irwin Miller Architecture Program is housed in the landmarked Republic Building, which is one of over eighty significant works of architecture in the city of Columbus.

Faculty members will also occasionally travel to Indiana University’s main campus in Bloomington (35 miles away) where various programs and administrative offices of the Eskenazi School are located.

Furthermore, we seek candidates who can provide collegial leadership in a team-based environment. Qualified candidates will participate in strategic planning for the program, student advising, NAAB Accreditation, and must show willingness to collaborate with community organizations and partners.

We are especially interested in leaders who can prepare students to respond to the complex cultural, social, technological, and environmental challenges of our contemporary era.

Position Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

Teaching graduate-level lecture and seminar courses in the History and Theory of Architecture and / or Urban Design· Teaching architectural design studios across all three years of the M.

Arch program· Fulfill an annual course-load of 12 credit-hours during the 10-month academic year.· Actively engage in scholarly work and creative activity through publications, exhibitions, symposia, or other nationally / internationally recognized forums.

• Assist in shaping and realizing the central goals of the program’s strategic plan.· Serve on program, school, or college-level committees as needed.
• Assist with the NAAB accreditation process in coordination with the Program Director, Assistant Director, faculty, and staff.
• Work in collaboration with community organizations and partners to expand the program’s impact and outreach, both locally and regionally.
• Help orchestrate travel abroad programs, as well as lectures and exhibitions hosted by the program.· Advise individual students and student-led organizations.
• Collaborate with the Director of Admissions andRecruitment, Director of Communications and Marketing, other staff membersand fellow faculty members as a participant in events and activities related to marketing and recruitment.
• Uphold the Eskenazi School’s Mission and Values as outlined in current Governance Documents ().· Fulfill the requirements of the Eskenazi School’s Promotion and for tenure-track and tenured faculty members, including providing evidence of excellence in research / creative activity, teaching, and service.
