Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Staff Nurse for NJMS- Ambulatory Care / Infectious Disease. The primary purpose of the Staff Nurse position is to, in accordance with professional nursing standards, skillfully administer total patient care based on the individualized needs of assigned patients and families.
Among the key duties of this position are the following :
- Assesses the health status of assigned patients as outlined in the nursing standards.
- Plans, implements, and evaluates individualized care based on patient assessment and medical plan of care.
- Provides direct patient care or direction and supervision to other health team members to ensure proper implementation of plan of care.
- Teaches patient / significant others about health / illness state and plan of care.
- Ensures that patient / significant others are prepared for discharge and health maintenance in the home setting.
- Ensures all procedures are performed based on established standards; demonstrates competency in performing all procedures within scope of practice.
- Documents all aspects of patient care.

- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a license to practice in the State of New Jersey.
- Prior experience : 1-2 years as Registered Nurse.
- Will consider graduate nurse with prior clinical experience (e.g., certified medical assistant, EMT, etc.)
Certifications / Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Infectious Diseases, HIV / AIDS care is preferred.
