The Clinical Nurse Educator will supervise and guide the students in the assigned clinical area and simulation center and evaluate student learning. This is an opportunity to teach in a diverse setting and clinical assignments are dependent upon the needs of the college each semester.\n\nOpportunities for clinical instruction are available in the following areas of Nursing : \n

• Mental Health\n\nEssential Functions : \n\nNursing Program Specific Functions : \n\nGeneral Responsibilities\n\nThe Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for\n
• Educating, assisting, guiding, and mentoring undergraduate baccalaureate nursing students to apply nursing interventions, provide safe patient-centered care and develop clinical judgment in the clinical area, and / or simulation center.\n
• The instructor will provide formative and summative evaluations that promote learning, validate nursing skills and competencies in accordance with evidence-based nursing practice.\n
• The instructor must demonstrate advanced knowledge and clinical skills appropriate to an area of nursing practice.\n
• Adheres to the mission, vision and philosophy of the College and the Department of Nursing in relation to the planning and delivery of nursing education.\n\nCompetencies\n
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including editing and proofreading.\n
• Exceptional planning and organizational skills.\n
• Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality.\n
• Ability to work well with culturally diverse populations within an organization.\n\nSupervisory Responsibility\n\nThis position will manage 1-2 groups of 4-6 nursing students per clinical rotation each semester in a clinical facility and skills lab at the St. Vincent's Health Sciences Center.\n\nWork Environment\n\nThe employees work environment will be their assigned clinical facility and the St. Vincent's Health Sciences Center.\n\nPhysical Demands\n
• Standing, walking, and bending for extended periods of time\n
• Lifting and moving patients, equipment, supplies as needed\n
• Assisting students with patient care (e.g. transferring, positioning etc.)\n
• Demonstrating clinical skills and techniques.\n
• Visual acuity to observe student technique and provide safe patient care\n
• Communicate effectively with students, patients, and members of the healthcare team.\n
• Ability to work in an ever-changing paced environment (EG. Hospital, clinic, etc.)\n\nEnvironmental Conditions\n\nClinical facilities can expose employees to various occupational hazards that can significantly impact their health and safety. These hazards includeexposure to infectious diseases, workplace violence, and ergonomic risks associated with manual patient handling and repetitive tasks.\n\nTravel\n\nEmployees are required to have their own method of transportation to and from their assigned clinical site and to campus as needed.\n\nRequired Education and Experience : \n
• Current unencumbered RN licensure and registration in New York State\n
• A master's degree in nursing is required. National certification in specialty preferred.\n

• Clinical experience / teaching experience preferred\n\nIn compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is $80 per hour for up to 100 hours per semester.
