Program and Roles Summary : Provides program information, direct incoming calls, manages and monitor reception common areas, manages and coordinate.

Under the supervision of the Manager of Behavioral Health Services, provides clinical assessment, crisis intervention services, treatment planning, and direct clinical intervention to children and their families experiencing acute and chronic emotional / behavioral disorders.

The QMHP & MHP will provide these services in a variety of settings - primarily within the home or community.

Reports To : Outpatient Supervisor

Principal Duties / Responsibilities :

  • Provides pre-admission psychiatric hospital screening, crisis intervention, facilitates hospitalization, monitors psychiatrically hospitalized children / adults, and provides discharge, linkage, and aftercare recommendations.
  • Performs comprehensive mental health assessments for children and adolescents referred for crisis or non-crisis mental health services.

This includes the ability to develop and successfully provide a diagnostic assessment consistent with all Axis of the Diagnostic and statistical Manual ( DSM-V-TR), International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10), or their successors.

Develops and implements a comprehensive clinical treatment plan for all children, adolescents, and adults referred in accordance with agency procedures, licensing standards, and standards of professional practice.

Assure that all services are provided are in compliance with standards of informed consent, maintenance of client rights, and standards of confidentiality.

  • Maintains direct service implementation included in the client’s treatment plan. Engages client in clinical therapeutic rehabilitative services, case management, community support, crisis intervention, and therapy counseling.
  • Obtains IMCANS certification within 1 month of hire,
  • Prepares and oversees case presentation for clinical review at specified points of service, including initial assessments, treatment planning review, treatment staffing reviews and case closure.
  • Provides individual and family psychotherapy as identified in the treatment plan at a level of professional competence commensurate with established protocols.
  • Assures that all clients are linked with appropriate treatment, educational, social, recreational, and medical resources during and prior to completion of service.
  • Maintains current knowledge regarding services to children, adolescents, adults, and families. Participates in agency in-service trainings as well as self and supervisor directed advanced skill-trainings.

Maintains and adheres to current rules and regulations pertaining to services delivered by the Illinois Department of Human Services, Department of Children & Family Services, Illinois Healthcare & Family Services, including the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act (ANCRA), and the Office of the Inspector General.

Documents service provision consistent with the treatment plan and assures that all identified services are provided in accordance with Agency / Program, and current administrative codes for the delivery of community mental health treatment services.

Maintains client confidentiality and adheres to guidelines defined by Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

  • Maintains current and accurate documentation of client services (billable / non-billable), client scheduling, consultation, and other events related to the maintenance of the client’s electronic health record.
  • Participates in 1 hour of supervision per week with assigned LPHA and / or Outpatient Supervisor.
  • Monitors their own caseload and productivity by running EHR reports.
  • Delivers caseload and productivity reports to Outpatient Supervisor
  • Receives training on the effective and efficient management of caseloads with the aim of maximizing the delivery of Direct Services.

  • This position requires the individual demonstrate the experiences, beliefs, attitude and awareness that indicate cultural sensitivity to the client population served.
  • This position requires the individual possess the ability to partner with clients individually and / or in family to help them mobilize resources and build resilience.
  • This position requires the individual possess the ability to coordinate effectively with other team members, other Agency resources and outside services in addressing client needs.
  • This position requires the individual possess an understanding of evidence-informed practices, engagement strategies, boundary setting, concurrent documentation, working in a community setting, organizing, motivational interviewing, and family systems.
  • Must be familiar with the operation of but not limited to desktop computer systems, cell phone, laptop, notebook, netbook, and tablet type devices knowledge of community resources and ability to use a variety of applications on a computer.
  • Staff are expected to have the ability to work remotely from home if necessary, and with Supervisory approval. Safety Protocols while at the office and within the community are to be strictly adhered.

Mental / Physical Demands :

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Work requires prolonged concentration using a computer in analyzing and manipulating data. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and talk or hear.

The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must lift and / or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally life and / or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Environmental Conditions : The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Duties are performed in a typical office environment.
