Department Information

Stamps Health Services is an outpatient ambulatory care center that provides health care and health education to students and their spouses / domestic partners.

The center is located in a state-of-the-art, 40,000-square-foot facility within the Joseph Brown Whitehead Building, next to our Campus Recreation Center.

Stamps Health Services provides care in six areas : Primary care, Womens health, Psychiatry, Travel / Immunization / Allergy, Pharmacy, and Diagnostic Services (lab and radiology).

Primary Care Clinic is the largest of the clinics at Stamps Health Services and sees approximately 24,000 visits / year.

Job Summary

Responsible for greeting patients and visitors, answering telephones, scheduling appointments, medical records requests, and assisting with immunization processing.

Collect co-payments, personal payments at time of service. Process patient referrals. This position will interact on a consistent basis with : Student Health Services (SHS) staff, patientsThis position typically will advise and counsel : SHS staff, patientsThis position will supervise : NA

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -

Provide service excellence during every patient encounter and when providing internal customer service. Gather pertinent information regarding customer's service needs.

Respond to customer questions or concerns by providing required information immediately or, if necessary, further investigation.

Job Duty 2 -

Schedule patient appointments

Job Duty 3 -

Provide fast, friendly, and accurate check out services for patients using computerized systems; collect patient financial responsibilities and provide receipts to patients

Job Duty 4 -

Receive and respond to incoming requests in a timely manner; open mail, assist walk-ins and telephone inquiries, and retrieve facsimile inquiries

Job Duty 5 -

Complete release of information requests; retrieve medical charts, copy or scan medical records accurately, according to requests and established procedures

Job Duty 6 -

Review and process immunization results and records to ensure accuracy and appropriate update of the patient's medical record.

Job Duty 7 -

Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Technical Diploma, Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience

Two to four years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Experience managing requests for medical records

Bachelor's Degree

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS

This job requires : Experience with processing credit card transactions and report reconciliation. Use and disclose of protected health information.

Demonstrated competency in the following areas : HIPAA, rights of patients, clinical records and health information, customer service, phone etiquette, and electronic scheduling.
