PARK MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT CHANNEL COAST DISTRICT / SANTA BARBARA SECTOR / EL CAPITAN STATE BEACH
This classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment, and training and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU / Bargaining Agreement BU12 / 13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire.
The reporting location for this position is El Capitan State Beach in Goleta, Ca. This position will work under the supervision of Park Maintenance Supervisor.
This position will work under the supervision of the Park Maintenance Supervisor or their designee to perform both skilled and semi-skilled duties necessary to maintain park facilities and grounds within the Santa Barbara Sector including Refugio State Beach, Gaviota State Park and El Capitan State Beach or within the Channel Coast District where needed.
This position assists in the maintenance and housekeeping duties of the facilities and may act as lead person for seasonal employees, CDF crews, or other agencies crews.
Additional duties include assisting in facility maintenance projects, operating and maintaining equipment and tools used in maintenance and performing unskilled maintenance as required.
The Park Maintenance Assistant classification will act as a lead person on a team with other Park staff and Volunteers and other labor sources.
There are a variety of challenges and opportunities in this coastal region with its terrific scenery and mild weather.
The incumbent’s work schedule will be 7 : 00am to 3 : 30pm from Thursday to Monday.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
This position requires a valid Class C driver’s license. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application.

Working Conditions
