What you'll do...
Walmart Global Sourcing is the engine that powers the retail giant's mission of offering "everyday low prices." Established in 2001, this arm of the company is responsible for strategically sourcing high-quality merchandise at competitive costs from suppliers around the world.
Walmart's Global Sourcing Technology team is responsible for building and maintaining software that enables Walmart to Source the best quality products at the lowest possible price and pass that savings to our Customers so they can Save Money and Live Better .
You will be part of the application development team leading software design and implementation, problem solving, leading consistency across our team in quality standards, ensuring our teams adhere to micro-service architecture principles, research and propose ideas that allows our teams to solve problems faster and provide engineering efficiency as they work with our customers to deliver world-class software solutions.
About Team :
Focusing on customer, associate and business needs, this team works with Walmart International, which includes more than 5,200 retail units, operating in 23 countries such as Canada, Central America, Chile, China, India, Mexico and South Africa to name a few.
What you'll do :
- Provide technical leadership for an agile development team of 4-5 engineers
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product Management, Market Operations) to gather requirements, create software design specifications and high level estimates.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve scalable, secure, and high-performance APIs, micro services and components using technologies like Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, RDBMS, NoSQL DB etc
- Utilize public cloud tools and resources to scale storage and computations in Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure and to improve performance and cost reduction.
- Perform design and code reviews, suggest improvements to ensure the highest level of quality and maintainability
- Oversee development lifecycles, Analyze application logs, maintenance activity data, performance data and provide analysis;
Evaluate change requests to identify those which are valid and feasible
What you'll bring :
Master's degree or equivalent in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3+ year of experience in software engineering or related area
OR) Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 7+ years of experience in software engineering or related area
- Strong background in Technical Solutions Architecture and Design
- Strong API design, development, and management experience
- Strong Java, Spring Boot experience
- Experience working with relational databases including MySQL or PostgreSQL and non-relational databases including Cassandra , Cosmos or MongoDB
- Strong experience in RESTful Microservices and Container technologies such as Docker on Kubernetes
- Experience building high throughput, low latency asynchronous applications using Kafka and other messaging frameworks
- Experience working on public cloud providers including Azure or GCP
- Experience with CI / CD and DevOps
- Experience working in a KPI driven highly agile environment

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00-$180,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...
Option 1 : Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Preferred Qualifications...
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.
