Job Summary :
To provide general and some specialized administrative support for a department or area such as word processing, report writing, etc.
Responds to patient and / or staff needs by consulting with others as appropriate and by following established departmental guidelines.
May serve as a work-lead (non-supervisory) for other departmental clerical staff.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills. Knowledge and understanding of typical computer systems, tools and programs.
Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to type 35 words per minute.
Responsibilities :
Types basic and moderately complex correspondence that may not conform to pre-established standards such as departmental reports (e.
g., procedure manuals, lecture materials, submissions to medical journals, medical transcription, etc.)
Answers telephones, takes messages, refers calls and frequently resolves general caller needs without the need to refer to others.
Schedules meetings as directed, to include room reservation, material preparation and food service if needed.
Maintains and updates filing systems for department records, employee files, department correspondence, and other files.
Assists with special departmental projects as assigned by supervisor.
Maintains department supplies; collects and distributes communications materials.

Physical and Environmental Demands :
Requires occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal / clinical nature, occasional bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds, occasional crouching / stooping, occasional driving, occasional kneeling, occasional reaching, constant sitting, frequent standing, occasional twisting, and frequent walking.

Education & Experience :
Associate's degree plus two (2) years of directly related experience or equivalent combination of education / experience.
