  • Position reports to : Managing Director
  • This position typically does not have a regular or set work schedule, and work hours vary significantly and are dependent on the nature and timing of client project assigned by IRI
  • Day, evening and weekend work, including project work and travel, is required as needed
  • Some domestic travel may be required, depending on the client project

As outlined in this document, the job requirements pertain to both IRI employed consultants and contractors who perform work on behalf of IRI.

Purpose

The purpose of the Change Management Consultant position is to lead and / or support transformational changes for our clients.

The consulting services include management consulting and successfully leading strategy and change planning, as well as managing and implementing change initiatives throughout the change management lifecycle from strategy through implementation.

The Consultant is also expected to become knowledgeable about all IRI products and services and to offer ideas and solutions to clients as part of a total solution utilizing all three areas of IRI expertise in labor, communications (including digital and social media strategy and tools), and leadership development (OD).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and Implement Change Management Strategies and Plans

  • Design and execute comprehensive change management plans that support organizational goals and strategies.
  • Assess the impact of proposed changes and develop strategies to mitigate risks and address resistance.

Lead and support Transformational Change Initiatives

  • Guide and support leadership teams through significant organizational changes, including restructuring, mergers, technology implementations, and cultural transformations.
  • Coordinate with various departments to ensure alignment and integration of change initiatives.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

  • Identify and engage key stakeholders, including executives, managers, and employees, to gain buy-in and support for change initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver clear, consistent, and effective engagement plans to keep stakeholders informed and engaged throughout the change process.

Training and Development

  • Design and deliver training programs to build needed skills and capabilities across the organization.
  • Provide coaching and support to leaders and employees to enhance their ability to manage and adapt to change.

Monitor and Measure Change Effectiveness

  • Establish metrics and KPIs to track the progress and effectiveness of change initiatives.
  • Conduct regular assessments and provide feedback to stakeholders on the status and impact of changes.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in change management processes and methodologies.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices to ensure the organization is leveraging the latest change management techniques.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Organizational Development, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in change management, organizational development, or a related field within a Consulting organization.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and managing large-scale transformational change initiatives as an external consultant.
  • Strong understanding of change management principles, methodologies, and tools (e.g., Prosci, ADKAR).
  • Strong leadership and organization skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to influence and build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Certification in change management (e.g., Prosci, CCMP) is a plus.
  • Strong work ethic, integrity, and demonstrated commitment to the organization’s people, mission, culture, and values.
  • Ability to work independently.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as detailed training materials.
  • Ability to write complex, professional project reports for clients including writing skills which present well-thought and well-organized information, grammatically and structurally correct, and in IRI-approved report template.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, employees or organization.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Software & Computer Proficiency

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and Excel.
  • Ability to use additional computer products :
  • Adobe Acrobat (Standard, Professional, Reader)
  • Video conferencing (Teams, Zoom, other)
  • OneDrive, SharePoint (file-sharing software)

The position primarily works virtually from home, and during those times, the person must maintain a work environment that is free from any distractions, such as childcare responsibilities or other personal responsibilities, which could inhibit the person's ability to be entirely focused on work performed at home.

Consultants must also be able to travel to and from client sites, using airplanes and ground transportation as needed.
