About the role :
The VirginiaDepartment of Transportation (VDOT) Information Technology Divisionis seeking a senior Infrastructure Project Manager to manage anddeliver a complex IT project(s) with multiple teams and workstreams coordinated to an aggressive delivery schedule.
Under the program manager the project manager isresponsible for the outcome of the assigned projects. The projectmanager leads the team through the Commonwealth Standard forProject Management for successful completion of the project phases : PreSelect Initiation Planning Execution and Control andCloseout.
The selected candidatewill :
Serve as a handson technical projectmanager with development staff and business groups.
Coordinate and communicate with ITD management and staff tocoordinate work tasks and resourcing.
Communicatetimelines and expectations to technical and businessstaff.
Collaborate with vendors consultants andcontractors in the execution of projects including contractmanagement and working with the procurement office(s).
Adhere to VDOT and VITA project management practices and governancerequirements; coordinate with VDOT and VITA Project ManagementOffices.
Maintain project budget plans tasks schedulesrisks and status and disseminate information to team members andcustomers as defined in the communications plan.
Ensuredocumentation of requirements and use cases facilitate designworkshops for assigned projects.
Ensure definition oftest objectives designed test plans and test cases for assignedprojects.
Provide the management of project milestonesand deliverables for ontime and onbudget delivery.
Define measure and clearly communicate progress withmetrics.
Support system and application trainingefforts.
Qualifications
Required :
A minimum of 5 years of project experience inIT infrastructure delivery Network infrastructure Networkarchitecture wireless technologies Cloud implementation vendormanagement.
Familiarity with telecommunications networktechnologies network standards and practices.
Manageprojects consisting of network switches routers firewalls loadbalancers VPN fiber optics and internet services.
Experience in the modern fabricbased networks Network Fabricunderlay overlay and SD WAN Experience with VoIP infrastructure aplus.
Experience managing large multistreamprojects.
Experience in reviewing carrier bid feedbackand present carrier / circuit recommendations to the ManagementCommittee for approval
Work with the crossfunctional ITteams to identify / extend enable and deliver a scalable securereliable and costeffective cloud solution that can be managed anddelivered
Responsibility for integrating technicalknowledge and business knowledge to develop innovative solutions toautomate projects activities
PMP orQualified under Commonwealth of Virginia Qualification Standardsfor IT Project Managers for Category 4 Projects. See :
