Responsibilities
Northwest Specialty Hospital , an extension of Northern Nevada Medical Center, brings expanded services to a new building located at 3 Sharlands Ave.
in Northwest Reno. The facility will offer acute rehabilitation and adult behavioral health services.
Our acute rehabilitation services include occupational, speech, and physical therapy for adults recovering from stroke, injury, or another disabling condition.
We offer advanced treatment for a wide range of conditions including stroke, brain injury, amputation, neurological disorders, major multiple traumas and spinal cord and back injuries.
All patients will experience private rooms, have access to a newly renovated therapy gym, and personalized care from our qualified staff.
This Cook opportunity is full time, offers full benefits and a convenient schedule shift. This position is for our New Rehab Hospital .
Under the direct supervision of the Food & Nutrition Services Director, Supervisor, or Lead, the cook performs a variety of patient food service and dish duties.
The cook will prepare appropriate food items for hospital patients, staff, and visitors according to recipes.
Job Duties / Responsibilities :
- Determines types and quantities of all foods to be prepared by reviewing planned menus and printed tallies.
- Determines foods / supplies / equipment that are low in supply and uses list to communicate to Director / Supervisor. Also assists in putting foods / supplies away appropriately in designated storage area after delivery.
- Ensures meals are ready at specified times and consults with director / supervisor regarding use of leftover food.
- Prepares all foods according to approved recipes and to suitable appearance standards while using garnishes when appropriate.

Requirements :
- One to three (1-3) years related experience and / or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- ServSafe Certification preferred within 6 months of hire.
