ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provides review and comment on development review plans to ensure that proposed improvements are consistent with the Marion County Land Development Code (LDC) as applicable.
Assists, participates and coordinates public, contractor, consultant and other meetings associated with assigned projects.
- Assists the general public, property owners and / or their representatives engaged in the development review process, by providing guidance on Department policies and on local ordinances.
- Conducts field visits for review, investigation, or resolution to complaints.
- Provides information related to and assists with creation of corrective measures.
- Conducts field visits for review and inspection of projects and improvement plans submitted to the County for approval, as required by the Department / Section Manager or Director.
- May supervise the construction administration of County projects including pre-construction meetings, shop drawing reviews, inspections, processing of pay requests, change orders, assessing and resolving unforeseen conditions during construction, monitoring of schedules and budgets, overseeing equipment and material testing, reviewing record drawings, and certificates for accuracy, ensuring that all work is in conformance with the contract document and permit conditions before final acceptance, as required by the Department / Section Manager or Director.
- Assists other departments in the resolution to permit review processes and any violation of the LDC. Depending on the level of Engineer and the area of assignment, may perform or assist with preliminary or final engineering design, hydraulic modeling, or traffic modeling on projects as the Engineer of Record or under the supervision of the Department / Section Manager or Director, as applicable.
- Performs and assists with modeling, analysis, and the preparation and completion of highly technical studies for presentations, project scoping, design, permitting, maintenance and / or operation.
- Assists, participates, and coordinates meetings with citizens, consultant meetings, and other meetings related to assigned projects.
- Assists in the review, filling out, and preparation of grant documents.
- Conducts field reviews of completed projects to ensure adherence to established standards, plans, specifications, and related requirements.
- Prepares and presents information in a meaningful and effective manner to citizens, coworkers, agencies, and other various officials in one-on-one or larger group settings.
- Provides excellent customer service to members of the general public and other County employees. Personal contact occurs with other employees of the unit, employees of other departments in the County, citizens, and customers of the department.
Service is provided in person or by phone contact. Implements the organization’s guiding principles and core values.
Performs other related job duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
ENGINEER I - Bachelor's Civil, Environmental or related engineering or Business Administration; 1 YR engineering intern, no experience required
- ENGINEER II - Bachelor's Civil, Environmental or related engineering or Business Administration; FL PE or equivalent license with ability to obtain Florida PE within 6 months;
- 4 years related experience ENGINEER III - Master's Civil, Environmental or related engineering or Business Administration;
FL PE or equivalent license with ability to obtain Florida PE within 6 months; 4 years experience OR two years relevant experience with PE and Masters degree in field
Licenses or Certifications :
FEMA NIMS IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, and IS-800 certifications within three (3) months of assignment.
Florida Stormwater Erosion and Sedimentation control Inspector certificate within twelve (12) months of assignment.
