About The Position
Job Title : Central Sterile Technician Certified Job Specialty : Sterile Processing Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 2nd shift, 2 : 30pm-11pm, Monday-Friday Guaranteed Hours : 40.
00 hours per week Experience : Six (6) months of related experience required License : Not specified Certifications : Technician certification from either the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) required Must-Have : Certification as listed, English proficiency (read, write, speak) Job Description : Responsible for cleaning, decontamination, assembly, packaging, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation and reusable supply items under general supervision.
- Coordinate and prepare necessary supplies and instruments for both emergent and routine surgical cases.- Assemble and wrap instrument sets.
- Ensure proper use of sterilized sonic cleaners and related equipment.- Retrieve and deliver surgical instruments promptly.
- Inspect instruments to ensure they are clean and in good repair before the sterilization process.- Decontaminate instruments using proper chemical mixtures and procedures.
- Test, operate, and load autoclaves, and complete sterilization log sheets.- Periodically check sterile inventory to remove items with expired sterilization or compromised packaging.
- Re-sterilize compromised instrument sets and notify appropriate personnel of inventory or supply shortages.- Assist in training new staff as needed.
- Prepare and maintain accurate case carts, pulling needed supplies and instruments for cases.- Coordinate with operating room staff to deliver proper supplies for each case when needed.
- Maintain optimal levels of patient care surgical supplies and / or equipment.- Practice good inventory control techniques by following the FIFO (first in, first out) method.
- Perform other duties as assigned.- Demonstrate knowledge of maintenance and sterilization of medical supplies and equipment, applicable sanitation and hygiene standards, and proper safety practices of steam and gas plasma sterilization.
- Exhibit effective customer service skills and ability to work effectively under pressure.- Possess strong computer skills and simple math skills.
