Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to join an established insurance company that provides personal property and casualty insurance, personal accident and supplemental health insurance, and life insurance to a diverse group of clients.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate insurance applications, considering factors such as the applicant's financial status, medical history, occupation, and lifestyle, to determine the level of risk associated with providing coverage.
- Analyze policy documents, including proposals and renewal terms, to ensure accuracy and compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulations.
- Apply underwriting guidelines and standards to make informed decisions regarding coverage, premium rates, and terms.
- Communicate underwriting decisions, reasoning, and requirements clearly and effectively to insurance agents, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
- Provide excellent customer service by responding to inquiries, resolving issues, and offering guidance to insurance agents and policyholders.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an insurance underwriter, insurance broker, or in insurance sales with exposure to property and casualty, life, health, or specialty lines.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of insurance laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment.
