Victim Advocate

About the Position

The Victim Services Program has provided services to victims of crime since 1985. The program utilizes volunteers assigned to the court advocacy unit, the protective order unit and the family violence unit. The goal of the program is to provide comprehensive services to crime victims involved in the criminal justice system, who have a case that is being prosecuted by the District Attorney's Office.

Description

To perform responsible advocacy work for victims of crime; to provide assistance for these victims as needed.

Schedule

Monday - Friday; 8 : 00am - 5 : 00pm; Hours per week dependent on business need.

Qualifications

• Training : Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Additional specialized training in social work, sociology, corrections or counseling is desirable.
• Experience : Two years of responsible experience in community service providing direct client assistance, and coordinating and training volunteers.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

Mission : Strive to improve public safety and quality of life by prosecuting the guilty, protecting the innocent, securing the appropriate support for children and families, and determining the cause and manner of death in all cases of traumatic or unattended death.
