FTE : Full Time, 1.0, 80.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)

Shift : Days

Pay : $40.86 - $63.33 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience

Summary :

This Clinical Nurse Educator will provide behavioral health educational support for the Behavioral Health Float Pool team which consists of Behavioral Health Professionals (BHP) and Charge Nurses.

The innovative and dynamic team provides behavioral health support and resources for the following departments : Acute Care, Critical Care, Emergency Department, Women & Infants, and Ambulatory areas at the University of Colorado Hospital.

Additional areas of support will include on-boarding and orientation of new BHPs and BH Charge Nurses, as well as support in hospital wide initiatives such as : Substance Use Disorders, Sitters, Elopement, Suicide Prevention, and Code Gray.

Responsibilities :

  • Collaborates with managers and staff to assess the learning needs and competencies of clinical staff.
  • Designs, delivers, and assesses learning activities and curricula related to clinical competencies, departmental / organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and the use of clinical information technologies.
  • Serves as a consultant / mentor for clinical staff in areas of program development, clinical practice, and professional development.
  • Participates in the development, coordination, and delivery of new clinical staff orientation and education activities.
  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Requirements :

Bachelor's in Nursing. Preferred : Master's in Nursing.

State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.

2 years of nursing experience.

BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date.

BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
