To drive these generative Artificial Intelligence experiences, Microsoft relies on ambitious advances in applied Artificial Intelligence research.

The Business Copilot Artificial Intelligence team is changing how business users interact with various Microsoft Business Applications, including Dynamics 365 / Power Platform and Microsoft Office.

Our team is chartered with building various Multi-modal models that are shipped across these various Microsoft product lines.

Our goal is to bring the state-of-the-art Machine Learning research to Microsoft products. The team works at the intersection of large language models and traditional deep learning, building Artificial Intelligence models on large scale structured and unstructured data.

We apply deep learning techniques on real-world datasets and build and deploy models using the latest cloud technologies.

We are a fast-paced team, empowered to innovate, take risks, and fail fast. We are looking for a Principal Applied Science Manager, Business Copilot Artificial Intelligence Team, to lead the data science efforts in delivering compelling copilot experiences within various areas in Microsoft Business Applications.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications :

Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years related experience (e.

g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)

o OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related experience (e.

g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)

o OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience (e.

g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)

o OR equivalent experience.

  • 1+ year(s) people management experience.
  • 2+ years of enterprise experience in any combination of following technologies : machine learning, deep learning, NLP, data mining, information retrieval.

Preferred Qualifications :

Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 10+ years related experience (e.

g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)

OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years related experience (e.

g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)

OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 7+ years related experience (e.

g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)

OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ year(s) people management experience.
  • 5+ years of academic or industry experience in areas of machine learning, data science with preference for Natural Language Processing
  • 5+ years of experience in C#, C++, Java or Python.
  • Research experience (publications) in the following areas is preferred machine learning, deep learning, NLP, data mining, information retrieval.

Applied Sciences M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.

Responsibilities

Lead, build, grow and support a team of data scientists.

  • Bring structure to problems, decomposing them into scalable solutions that drive measurable business impact.
  • Translate business requirements into concrete deliverables, including design, development, testing, and deployment of analytical solutions and scalable ML solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver value to stakeholders and products.
  • Work with large volumes of data to solve real-world problems.
  • Contribute to global impact through collaboration with diverse teams.
