About The Position

Prepares patients for procedures by performing a medicalassessment of the mental and physical evaluation of lab values, confirming patient identificationthrough verbal communication and ID band (if applicable), and describing the nature and timerequirements of requested examinations to the patient.
Records patient history, unusualconditions / limitations, and other vital information.Attends regularly scheduled department meetings i.
e. staff, in-service, training, etc..Trains Radiologic Technology students.Identifies problems and communicates to the immediate supervisor;
offers solutions as appropriate.Enters detailed accounts of patient incidents in Peminic Incident Reporting System.Schedules patients in sections and coordinates scheduling with other departments to ensure patientflow.
Operates CT scanner according to hospital protocol and manufacturer's recommendations.Demonstrates working knowledge of equipment and workflow for all CT departments.
Demonstratescorrect and adequate anatomic positioning skills.Follows all physician orders and order requisitions. Consults with a radiologist and / or other physiciansregarding examinations as necessary.
Assists Radiologists with special procedures (i.e., biopsy's,abscess drainage procedures), practices the sterile technique, and prevents cross-contamination topatients and instruments.
Assumes charge position as required in the absence of supervisory personnel.Prepares and / or administers contrast media i.
e., orally, IV, rectally (CT technologists' medicationadministration scope of practice is limited to the administration of contrast agents only).
Starts IVswhen needed.Provides radiation protection to patients, staff, and self, according to prescribed safety standards.
Restocks and maintains assigned workstations / equipment in an orderly fashion.Recognizes emergency situations, initiates code procedures, and administers first aid / CPR as needed.
o Retrieves and loads images and resolves "exceptions" in the PACS system. Tracks images to"end procedure" in EPIC (Electronic Health Records) and assures that all images are archived atthe end of each shift.
Mobile Stroke Unit (MSU) CT*Maintains all aspects of the MSU CT scanner protocols and procedures.Coordinates and maintains scheduled service of the MSU CT scanner.
Transfers all CT images performed in the MSU CT scanner to the appropriate systems forinterpretation.Maintains a level of hygiene in the MSU equal to that of Grady inpatient medical care sites.
Required EducationAssociate's Degree from an approved ARRT institution with an accredited Computed Tomography (CT)Program, or currently enrolled in an approved ARRT institution with an accredited Computed Tomography (CT)programRequired ExperienceApplicants may be : Enrolled in an approved ARRT institution with an accredited Computed Tomography (CT) programRecent graduate from an approved ARRT institution with an accredited Computed Tomography (CT)program, and eligible for ARRT-CT certification via the American Registry of Radiologic TechnologistsAn experienced Registered Technologist who's eligible for ARRT-CT certification via the AmericanRegistry of Radiologic TechnologistsMust have a minimum of 1 year experience in a Clinic or Hospital SettingRequired Skills / Cert / LicensesARRT-CT certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-CT) no morethan 6 months post-hire (if applicable).
Must remain a member, in good standing, of the ARRT or the Nuclear Medicine TechnologyCertification Board (NMTCB) by maintaining appropriate CE credits and annual renewal oflicense(s).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
